THE NTH DEGREE

This wine is polished and supple with varietal layerings of black cherry, fresh tobacco, and black olive interlaced with dark chocolate and black tea. Compelling ripeness and fine grain tannins will tempt for early drinking, but the depth, balance, and sheer fruity richness of this wine promises good things to come for many years into the future.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is fully packed with notes of black cherry and red plums from front to back and its optimally ripened fruit is decked out with a generous measure of French oak spice including toasted vanilla bean, polished mahogany, and a hint of clove and winter spice.

Generous aromas of black cherries and currants are at the heart of our 2019 nth DEGREE Merlot. Deliciously deep and focused, the juicy and satisfying fruit unfolds with layers of rich and sweet chocolately oak, but a touch of decanting on this youthful and exuberant wine will reveal additional layers of graphite, maple, and nutmeg with a hint of Livemore dust.

Our 2021 Merlot has aromatics of candied red cherry and a touch of blueberry jam, a sweet and fruity profile, while the notes of cocoa and baked cinnamon add layers of complexity and warmth. A full body wine with s substantial mouth feel that finishes with big silky tannins. A well-structured wine that provides a balanced and smooth conclusion to each sip.

Our 2020 nth DEGREE Pinot Noir leads with a mix of black cherry and ripe cranberry aromas that are framed by an abundance of sweet oaky overlays. Finely focused flavors of bright fruit and wildflowers are supported by a generous dollop of deep and inviting toasty oak spice. Accents of hazelnut and vanilla flirt with a faint wisp of black pepper and fresh tobacco, leaving a slightly velvety finish.

Our 2021 nth DEGREE Pinot Noir is dark ruby in color and shows aromas of black cherry and ripe cranberry that are framed by vanilla and toasted oak. The nth DEGREE is a selection of handcrafted, limited production wines created by Fifth Generation Winemaker, Karl D. Wente. The focus of this small lot program is to create wines that reflect the distinctive terroir of the Wente family’s estate vineyards in Livermore Valley and Arroyo Seco, Monterey.

The 2022 nth DEGREE Pinot Noir from Wente Vineyards demonstrates the depth of the Dijon Clone. Dark ruby in the glass, the wine smells of black cherry and blackberries framed by vanilla and toasted oak. Flavors of ripe dark fruits and baking spices are followed by silky tannins.

Our 2020 nth DEGREE Syrah has a big character and layered aromatics from smoked meat, graham cracker, boysenberry, and fresh red cherries. On the palate, this wine shows notes of dried cranberries, black pepper, red plum, and fig.

Our 2021 nth DEGREE Syrah leads with a mix of ripe plum and black olive aromas that are framed by an abundance of sweet oak overlays suggestive of baked cinnamon. The flavors juxtapose fruity notes of blackberry and pluot with savory smoked meat and spicy black pepper to form a deep and classically Rhone styled Syrah. While rich and full bodied, this wine also showcases a velvety roundness that lingers well into the finish.
