Jackie Strum, Moderator
Jackie Strum is the Associate Publisher, VP of Wine Enthusiast Media. Her parents created the Wine Enthusiast Magazine in 1988. Strum is the founder of ThirstyNest, a curated wine and spirits registry. Previously, she worked in running communications and new business development for Wine Enthusiast Companies and held public relations and digital media roles for global brands at Hunter Public Relations, Mission Media, and UrbanDaddy. Strum completed an Advanced Degree with Distinction with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and graduated from George Washington University.
Susana Balbo & Ana Lovaglio
In 1981 Susana received her degree in enology and became the first woman winemaker in Argentina. She has worked at many well-regarded wineries such as Cafayate, Michel Torino, Martins, and Catena Zapata and has been a consultant winemaker working in six countries. In 1999, she started her winery Susana Balbo Wines. In October 2015, she became a National congresswoman for the political party 'Cambiemos' ("Let's Change"), representing Mendoza's province. In 2017, President Macri appointed Susana chair of the Women's 20 (W20), an international working group of the G20 dedicated to women's empowerment. In 2018, Susana transitioned from her role in Congress to focus on her work with the W20. In 2018, The Drink Business magazine recognized her as one of "The ten most influential women in the wine world."
Ana is the daughter of Susana Balbo. She graduated from St. Andrews University in Buenos Aires with a degree in Business Administration. In 2012, Ana officially joined the Susana Balbo Wines team as the Marketing and Communication Manager. Ana is also the creator and manager of the winery's two restaurants Osadia de Crear and Espacio Crios. Osadia de Crear opened in 2013, with a menu designed to pair with Susana Balbo's wines and Argentina's local producers. In 2015, Ana opened Espacio Crios, a place created for laid-back wine experiences, with creative tapas, picnics, and the dazzling view of the Andes. Ana is the mother of Santino and Delfina, who might be Susana Balbo Wines' future generation of winemakers.
Marimar & Cristina Torres
Marimar Torres has been involved in the wine business all her life. Born in 1945 in Barcelona, Spain, she is fluent in six languages and holds a degree in Business & Economics from the University of Barcelona. Marimar is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program and studied Enology & Viticulture for a year at the University of California at Davis. At Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery, she directs the winery activities and both vineyards - Don Miguel (named after her late father) in the Russian River Valley AVA and Doña Margarita (named after her late mother) in the Sonoma Coast AVA, both in Sonoma County.
Cristina is the daughter and only child of Marimar Torres and a fifth-generation member of the Torres family, whose winegrowing roots trace back to the 17th century. Cristina has inherited her love of the vineyard from her family and has grown up working alongside her mother her whole life. In early 2020, after gaining several years of experience outside the family business, she joined the company as Director of Sales & Marketing. The Torres family business has been handed down from father to son for five generations, but this is the first time that the baton will be passed from mother to daughter.
Carolyn & Aly Wente
Carolyn Wente is the CEO of Wente Family Estates and one of the driving forces behind the family's wine portfolio's expansion and growth. She was instrumental in developing the Wente family's lifestyle business, which has brought Wente Vineyards worldwide renown and attracted visitors from around the globe. Today, Carolyn works with fourth and fifth generation family members and company executives to continue Wente Family Estates' growth. In 2020 she was awarded the prestigious Grande Dame Award from Les Dames D'Escoffer International.
Aly Wente, Carolyn's niece, is the Director of Marketing for Wente Family Estate and part of the Fifth-generation working in the company. She is leading the marketing efforts for the Wente Family Estates portfolio, working closely with senior leadership, sales, and cross-functional teams to ensure growth, alignment, and focus for the brands across the portfolio: Wente Vineyards, entwine, Murrieta's Well, Double Decker, Hayes Ranch, Ravel & Stitch, Angels Ink, Unsullied and the expanded portfolio of import wines including Bodega Cuarto Dominio and Blanchard & Lurton from Argentina.
