Wente Vineyards Riva Ranch Chardonnay, Morning Fog Chardonnay and Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon were one of many wines tasted for the blog post on "Under the Grape Vine". Our wines walked away with high reviews while some didn't receive such kind recognition.
Check out what they said:
Wente Chardonnay Morning Fog Livermore Valley 2009. Grade=Outstanding. Rounder and smoother than the Seven Heavenly, this Chard sees some light barrel aging and a bit of malolactic fermentation. Hints of white spice, vanilla and baked apples underlie the bright tropical fruit flavors.
Wente Chardonnay Riva Ranch Arroyo Seco 2008. </b>Grade=Outstanding. Plush with creamy vanilla atop apple pie a la mode, peach cobbler and pineapple upside down cake.
Wente Cabernet Sauvignon Southern Hills Livermore Valley 2008. Grade=Outstanding. Lighter-styled California Cab, though firm tannins and textbook blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors anchor this into a reality-priced point that would make this a great one to buy by the case.
