Concert Lineup featured on Mercury News

Wente Vineyards, the award-winning family-owned winery in Livermore, has announced the lineup for its 2012 concert season.

The list is short -- just six shows this year — but it's also quite solid, highlighted by such names as Diana Krall and Earth, Wind & Fire. Tickets go on sale for Wente's Entertainment Club Members on Saturday, April 28 and to the general public on May 19.

Here's a show-by-show breakdown of the lineup:

Foreigner (July 11) -- The British rock band, led by guitarist Mick Jones, has sold more than 70 million records worldwide. Its best-known hits include "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want to Know What Love Is."

Earth, Wind & Fire (July 16) -- EWF is one of the most popular R&B/soul acts of all time, with a songbook that includes such smashes as "Shining Star" and "Let's Groove."

Sheryl Crow (July 23) -- The singer-songwriter has settled quite nicely onto the winery circuit, where she should be a force for many years to come.

John Fogerty (Aug. 1) -- You simply can't go wrong with a night of Creedence Clearwater Revival songs. And that's what you'll get, plus some solo cuts, at this show.

Diana Krall (Aug. 15) -- There are many good reasons why this vocalist-pianist is the top attraction in jazz — and they'll all likely be on display on this evening.

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers (Aug. 29) -- Using past experience as our guide, expect Martin's show to be 80 percent bluegrass and 20 percent comedy.
