How far can you hit a golf ball? 275 yards? 300? 350?
Whatever your answer, it’s not as far as Ryan Winther can hit it. I spent Thursday afternoon with Ryan on The Course at Wente Vineyards in Livermore as he set out to break the Guinness World Record for longest carry of a golf ball. The previous record was 408 yards.
Ryan crushed his soon-to-be record setting drive 430 yards!
The video shot by Comcast Sportsnet as well as the witness statements are being sent to Guinness for certification, which is all but a formality. I will be putting together a full report on the record setting shot as well as more on the man behind it for a future edition of Sportsnet Central.
