5 Fall Recipe Pairings

As we say goodbye to summer produce and warm weather, we welcome the comfort of fall recipes that include hearty meals, warm soups, and bold spices. The beginning of fall marks the transition to cooler months, frequent gatherings and of course—red wine.

Making the perfect pairing for yourself or guests doesn’t have to be a balancing act. We’ve rounded up five fall dinner recipes that can be made under 30 minutes. And not to leave the best part out, we also included suggested Wente wine pairings for all five recipes. Easy to prepare from weeknight to weekday, so you can focus on making time for your loved ones instead of spending extra time in the kitchen.

2. One-Pot Penne With Sausage, Pumpkin & Fennel

3. Rosemary-Garlic Pork Chops with Chickpeas

This is a meal sure to please the family and is easy to make! The chickpeas get crispy, all while absorbing the juice from the pork chops. One reviewer added broccoli to the pan, which isn’t a bad way to round out the meal. It is a powerhouse meal that deserves a powerhouse wine, such as our small-lot Petite Sirah. If there was one wine that screams fall, this would be it.

4. Pan-Seared Sausage with Lady Apples and Watercress

Pair with Small Lot Zinfandel

Easy but delicious one-skillet dinner. We love how the apples cook down and flavor this meal. We used our Eric’s Chardonnay in the sauce but also paired it with our small-lot Zinfandel. Our Zinfandel has a combination of savory spice and ripe berry on the palate with a round mouthfeel. It pairs well with sausage and other grilled meats.

5. Instant Pot Butternut Squash Soup

Pair with nth DEGREE Merlot

The Instant Pot miracle worker cuts out roasting butternut squash which could have taken over an hour. The smooth texture of the soup pairs well with our nth DEGREE Merlot, which has silky tannins and a long finish. A classic fall dinner pairing.
