Morning Fog Chardonnay

About Morning Fog Chardonnay

The Morning Fog Chardonnay is a signature Wente Vineyards wine and a classic California Chardonnay. It opens with notes of vanilla, sweet cream, and subtle oak, layered with crisp Gala apple, pear, and lemon curd. Smooth and well-balanced with bright acidity, it delivers a fresh, fruit-forward profile and a clean, refreshing finish.

Chardonnay Legacy

The Wente Clone, first propagated by Ernest Wente in the early 1900s, is the foundation of California Chardonnay. Selected for its quality and resilience, it helped define the signature style of Chardonnay grown across the state.

Known for balanced fruit, bright acidity, and layered complexity, the Wente Clone has shaped California Chardonnay for generations. Its influence extends from Livermore Valley to vineyards throughout California.

Today, it remains a cornerstone of American winemaking and continues to inspire Wente Vineyards Chardonnay.

Ratings & Accolades

v.2023, 90 Points

Vibrant and expressive, with a terrific mix of nutmeg-scented pear, Fuji apple and peach flavors that are delicate and precise but not shy on concentration and generosity. Sleek, precise acidity and hints of lemon meringue linger on the finish.

White blossoms, including linden and chamomile, scatter across a nose of nectarine, lime, and vanilla before settling on the medium-bodied palate, itself petal-like in its smoothness. Apricot and pear lead gracefully to a lithe finish with a soupçon of almond.

v.2022, 90 Points

A haze of marzipan-like aroma and green spices from the wood before notes of ripe, sliced apples and waxed lemons come through. Medium to full body with some roasted almond and fennel in the center palate. Fresh, with moderate acidity and a phenolic, oak-spiced finish.
