2022 Zinfandel

The 2022 Wente Vineyards Small Lot Zinfandel is full of ripe plum, black pepper, warm vanilla and dark chocolate. Jammy blackberry and fig form the core of the palate along with supporting notes of black pepper and spice. Deeply filled with vibrant acidity and a firm spine of tannins, this wine offers up enough balance for indulgent early drinking but also plenty of fruity depth and structure to justify laying a few aside to explore its aging potential.

Fermentation And Aging

Each variety was fermented separately in small stainless steel tanks with pneumatage twice a day to maximize extraction of aromatics and flavors. The wine was aged for 17 months in 40% new French oak barrels and 60% second use French oak barrels.
